The Norway Maple is an attractive landscape tree that is tolerant of urban conditions. It has a round to broad oval crown and is very dense. It has large, dark green five lobed leaves which remain in good condition thoughout the growing season. the foliage remains green later than most other deciduous trees and may turn a clear yellow in the fall. Numerous showy clusters of bright greenish-yellow flowers appear in the spring. The Norway Maple prefers full sun and prefers a rich loam soil. It tolerates drought, summer heat very well. The Norway Maple can reach 40-60 feet in height and has a width of 30-50 feet. It's cold hardy to zone 4.
Recommended Planting Instructions:
Scarification: Soak in water for 24 hours. Stratification: Cold stratify for 120 days. Germination: Sow seed 3/8" deep, tamp soil, and mulch seed bed. Other: Fall sowing in mulched seedbed is prefered to artificial stratification
